Some of them are very nice, and I have come to prefer them over their GUI counterparts. ![]() It is also fun to see how many basic function you can replace with terminal apps. i3 out of the box is boring, but it can be made into a very nice environment pretty easily. It also makes comparing a bunch of videos very easy. It is especially useful if you are working in multiple terminals. Isn't Plasma 5 just AWESOME? The most beautiful desktop environment ever, hands down! But tiling has it's place and is best experienced where there is an emphasis on that. I run i3 alongside Plasma on Arch, and it had become my default environment until I decided to see how much improvement had been made in Plasma. If you like tiling though I would suggest trying out one of the tiling window managers. As you will see there are a lot of other things you can do like maximize horizontally or vertically. This will snap the chosen application window to the right or left half.
